Project Atal
Atal Aadarsh Vidyalaya Lodhi Estate is a Severely Underfunded Government School in Delhi, where the average family income is under 15,000 INR. Project Atal revolves around helping this school. Project Atal is the largest project line of Fitplex. Some of our work includes building an Outdoor Gym for the students in AAV, providing them with mats for self-defense, refurbishing their library, and providing sports equipment for their P.E. lessons. The AAV schools do not have a set fund for sporting equipment, and a large region of the school is damaged and hazardous for students to learn. Many young students are talented in football and basketball, but the lack of clean equipment hinders them from becoming world-class athletes. To this day, we have reached over 3600 Students just through FitAtal.
Goals of Project Atal
1- Project Atma Suraksha
One of our main goals in project Atal is women empowerment, and supporting young women in Atal Aadarsh Vidyalaya to learn Karate and self-defense. The AAV we are primarily working with- AAV Lodhi Estate, is one of the first schools in the district to implement self-defense lessons, the girls have a first-degree belt. Most AAV schools run this self-defense lesson for only a week, however, considering the importance of self-defense, especially for women, this runs all year in AAV. However, the girls lack basic fall protection and can get hurt while practicing, that is why, we had provided them with all the mats needed to pursue self-defense in an environment that is safe, nurturing, and clean
2- Outdoor Gym
We provided the school with an outdoor gym consisting of 7 equipment. This will allow the students to pick up fitness from an early age, and not let household and financial restrictions stop them from growing physically and mentally. This change will provide generational impact, allowing students to learn fitness from an early age, and teach their children, thus promoting the cycle of fitness.
3- Empowerment of the underprivileged youth & the creation of a safe environment to engage in sports.
By providing football and basketball to the students, and giving lessons on fitness, we not only promote physical literacy for the underserved but also foster an environment where students not only study but also have fun playing sports. Moreover, we also aim to rectify dangerous and damaged parts of the school, thereby promoting a safe and inclusive environment.
We provided hundreds of English books to allow for the overall literacy of the students, hence enabling them to have a more positive relationship with fitness, by understanding English, thereby allowing them to access resources that are based in English.
